The delegations representing Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization have opted to set aside missile strikes and a possible ground incursion into the Gaza Strip for a five-day tournament of Milton Bradley's Hungry, Hungry Hippos.
"We must stop this descent into war," said Tzipi Livni, Israel's former Foreign Minister. "My superior hand-eye coordination will allow us to do so."
Ahmed Qurei, a member of the PLO’s Executive Committee, also believes the Hippos tournament will work to his advantage.
"There's no way I could lose to a Zionist girl," he said.
The games, however, have not been without their own complications and bickering.
"The Palestinians started with two marbles in their hippos' mouths," said Livni. "Israel will not stand for that."
The PLO had their own concerns about the games' fairness.
"The Hebrew hippos clearly have longer necks," claimed Qurei, who insisted they rotate the game. "They obviously should give us the West hippos."
The tournament is expected to be over by Friday, which should conclude thousands of years of conflict in the Middle East.
